WHY SIZE MATTERS

Why Our Small Class Changes Everything

Some flaunt their large obedience classes, we do the opposite. Our classes are small for a reason, and it allows every attendee to get the attention they deserve.

connective canine group

Intimate Group Learning For Real Success

Our group classes max out at 5 owners and dogs. Allowing each attendee to receive coaching and guidance that applies to them individually.

Small class sizes allow for more individualized feedback and guidance from your trainer.

Develop practical obedience and everyday manners you can use at home, on walks, and in public.

Receive meaningful coaching throughout each session, with guidance tailored to your dog's needs and skill level.

Help your dog learn to remain focused and composed around other dogs and people in a structured environment.

Learn how to communicate clearly, handle common challenges, and reinforce good behavior with consistency.

Enjoy the benefits of group learning without sacrificing the attention and direction that make training effective.

TRADITIONAL MODEL

Standard Classes

Group classes allow owners to learn the basics and learn how to handle their dog. But in a class of 10 or more people, how can a trainer make sure every owner has the proper handling and every dog is learning proficiently?

Larger classes can leave owners with fewer opportunities for personalized instruction and feedback.

A standardized approach may not adequately address each dog's unique challenges, temperament, or learning pace.

Busy class environments can make it difficult for some dogs to focus and learn effectively.

Limited trainer availability can leave owners unsure how to handle mistakes, troubleshoot setbacks, or apply techniques correctly.

Who this is suited for

Dogs who are able to learn with other dogs and people nearby, and handlers who want regular guidance on handling, teaching and applying training.

owner participation

You handle your dog in class and follow the trainer's exercises. The trainer will coach each owner individually to ensure each team is correctly teaching, training, and applying the instructions. You're responsible for continuing practice and application between classes.

How progress is supported afterwards

During class, your trainer will review the previous classwork, and coach you through the handling, timing, and communication required. Between sessions, you'll practice the week's material written in the instructional resources. This preparation allows each class to build on the last, rather than relying on a single weekly session to establish lasting progress.

Every dog and handler progresses at a different pace. If you and your dog need additional instruction before moving forward, a private lesson may be required to address gaps in understanding and prepare you to rejoin the group successfully.

The curriculum provides the direction. Your practice develops the reliability, and your trainer's guidance helps ensure you're progressing with purpose rather than simply completing the course.

Where we train

Group Classes meet at our Smyrna facility at Dogma Dog Care, 4790 Wright Dr SE, Smyrna, GA 30082. Some courses are held at Top Dog Boutique in Kennesaw. The selected course's registration details determine the venue and dates; confirm them before attending.

Classes are capped at five dogs and owners. We assess whether your dog can learn comfortably and safely around the group before enrollment. A $50 evaluation can help determine the right starting program, and its fee is credited toward training.

program structure

Group classes follow a structured curriculum over four to six weeks, with weekly sessions lasting 60–90 minutes at our training facility. Training extends beyond the weekly class. Virtual pre-class lessons introduce the material ahead, giving your dog a foundation before you arrive. During class, you'll review previous topics, work through new exercises, and receive direct coaching on handling, timing, and communication. Your trainer will explain common challenges, how to prevent them, and how to respond when they arise. Between sessions, you'll practice at home to reinforce what you've learned before progressing to greater expectations.
Progress matters more than simply completing the curriculum. If you and your dog fall behind, a private lesson may be required before rejoining the group, ensuring you have the understanding needed to move forward confidently.
Courses are organized around distinct training objectives, such as basic obedience, sport and AKC title, advanced topics for alumni, and specific focuses like Puppies or Reactivity.

Additional options

For owners who prefer a more personal setting, you can form a mini group class with two other owners. This private group of three follows a six-lesson curriculum at $125 per lesson, including equipment. Training goals must align with one of our established group class courses, allowing everyone to work toward compatible objectives within a structured program.

Program alumni can also attend our weekly Alumni Class at half the standard class cost. These sessions provide continued opportunities to practice established skills, refine performance, and address individual training concerns with a trainer's guidance.
